Graduate School

Key to the educational concept of the TRR 241 is the integrated Research Training Group (iRTG) “Intestinal Inflammation – From Bench to Bedside”. A large part of researchers within the TRR 241 are doctoral researchers (from natural science as well as medical faculty), for whom participation in the TRR 241 represent a crucial first step within their scientific career. It is therefore of particular importance to support the elected young researchers of the TRR 241 by an excellent educational program, not only to prepare them for a future scientific career at the interface between clinical and biological research, but also to build a new generation of experts in IBD.

The iRTG training program has the following specific aims:

  1. to transfer scientific expertise in the field of intestinal physiology and IBD pathophysiology
  2. to enhance the repertoire of methods and techniques
  3. to improve soft skills
  4. to encourage the formation of scientific networks

In order to achieve these aims, the Graduate School will provide all doctoral researchers with a structured training program complementary to their experimental work in the laboratories which will include

  1. joint program focused on mucosal immunology and IBD and
  2. a career and competence program

This iRTG training program will warrant an optimal supervision, a constant exchange of knowledge between all doctoral researchers, the ability to further develop technical and personal skills and a comprehensive theoretic education in the field of gut physiology and intestinal diseases. Overall, via the implementation of the iRTG concept, we intend to optimize the output of all TRR 241 projects and to pave the way for successful long-term scientific careers of TRR 241 doctoral researchers.

The TRR241 Research Training Group will be coordinated by:
